The Colonial History They Don’t Want You to Remember

The British Raj in India, the French in West Africa, the Spanish in Latin America, or the Belgian horrors in Congo are the first things that come to mind when the word colonialism is used. Our textbooks, scholarly conversations, and political debates are dominated by these tales. There are other colonial tales worth recounting, even though the European colonial experience was unquestionably extensive and destructive.

It is frequently forgotten that other empires were engaging in control, cultural repression, and conquest long before European ships ever sailed to foreign shores. The early Arab and Islamic empires were among the most significant of them.

Colonialism Beyond Europe

In addition to a religion, the advent of Islam in the seventh century brought about military and political conquests that altered continents. Arab forces invaded Spain, North Africa, and Persia in less than a century. These were not passive spiritual experiences; rather, they were conquests that altered civilizations, overthrew governments, and, frequently, destroyed whole cultural traditions.

Languages were moved. Arabic was frequently downplayed in favor of Berber and Persian dialects. New administrative systems that consolidated authority under caliphates replaced local governance institutions. Old customs and faiths were either assimilated, weakened, or completely eradicated. Centuries of cultural erasure and fusion had place in the Middle East, North Africa, and Spain (Al-Andalus).

Why These Stories Are Overlooked

What, therefore, prevents these narratives from frequently appearing in popular colonial discourse?

Framing Religion
Rather than being described as invasion, Islamic expansion is frequently told from a spiritual or "civilizational" perspective. The harsher realities of repression and forced absorption are less highlighted than the scientific, artistic, and architectural accomplishments of Islamic civilizations.

Scholarship that is Eurocentric
In the West, where Europe's empires around the world have been the main emphasis, modern colonial studies first appeared. Consequently, other colonial histories are not regarded as essential parts of world history, but rather as incidental material.

Identity and Selective Memory
The notion of a powerful Islamic empire is associated with pride and identity in many civilizations. Because it can be awkward to acknowledge the colonial elements, the story is either romanticized, softened, or disregarded.

The Lasting Legacies

There are repercussions if these histories are ignored. Previous invasions created severe wounds, just like the European colonial era did:

Cultural Loss: It is still challenging to bring back marginalized or extinct languages, customs, and indigenous knowledge systems.

Historical Silence: Blind spots in education and public understanding are caused by generations of people who are raised to believe that colonialism is solely a European phenomena.

Contemporary Conflicts: These conquests are frequently cited as the origin of borders, ethnic divisions, and religious disputes throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Addressing today's issues requires an understanding of them.

In Search of a Completer Past

Reducing the savagery of European colonialism is not the goal of acknowledging the colonial histories of the Arabs and Muslims. Rather, the goal is to present a more complete and truthful picture of human history. All empires, European, Arab, Mongol, and others that grew via conquest and repression engaged in colonial activities that influenced the development of our contemporary world.

We need to expand the discussion in order to fully comprehend colonization. Only then will we be able to see the common experiences of hardship, resiliency, and survival that bind us all together.

5 Reasons the Palestinian State Is a Waste of Time

The idea of a Palestinian state has long been a focal point of Middle Eastern diplomacy, yet critics argue it’s more a political mirage than a genuine goal. Skeptics point to a pattern of rejection, corruption, and division that undermines the case for Palestinian statehood. Below, I outline five reasons why the idea of a Palestinian state is a waste of time

1. Saying "No" to Peace Deals

Palestinian leaders have said no to several offers that could’ve created a state. Back in the 1940s, a UN plan suggested splitting the land into two states, one Jewish, one Arab, but it was rejected, leading to war. In 2000, Israel offered a deal that included most of the West Bank and all of Gaza, but the Palestinian leader walked away without suggesting another plan. A similar offer in 2008, with even more land and a shared Jerusalem, was also turned down. Critics say this shows leaders might care more about keeping the conflict alive than building a state.

2. Money Problems and Mismanagement

There’s a lot of concern about how Palestinian leaders handle money. They get billions in aid from around the world, but some of it seems to vanish. Reports have pointed to missing funds, and there are stories about leaders living large while many Palestinians struggle. Critics argue this suggests leaders are more focused on personal gain than building a strong foundation for a state.

3. Focusing on Conflict, Not Peace

Some say Palestinian schools and media teach too much anger toward Israel instead of preparing for statehood. TV shows and textbooks have been called out for praising violence and framing Israel as the enemy. Critics believe this kind of messaging makes it harder to create a peaceful state, as it fuels conflict rather than cooperation.

4. Leaders Who Can’t Team Up

Palestinian leadership is split in two, and it’s a big problem. Since 2007, one group runs the West Bank, while another controls Gaza. They’ve tried to work together a few times, like in 2014 and 2017, but those efforts fell apart because they couldn’t get along. Critics ask: if leaders can’t unite, how can they run a whole country?

5. Living on Aid, Not Building an Economy

The Palestinian economy leans heavily on money from other countries—billions every year. But leaders have said no to projects that could help, like teaming up with Israel on business zones years ago. Critics think this shows they’re more interested in staying dependent than building a strong, self-sufficient economy for a future state.

Wrapping It Up

The dream of a Palestinian state is a big deal, but these five points explain why some people doubt it’s a real goal. From turning down peace deals to struggling with money and unity, the path to statehood looks shaky. Of course, others say outside challenges, like Israel’s actions, are a huge factor too. 5 Reasons Why You Should Never Become a Muslim – From an Ex-Muslim’s Perspective

Welcome to The Ex-Muslim Commando Blog.
As someone who once lived, believed, and defended Islam, I now use this platform to reveal what many Muslims will never tell you the side of Islam hidden from the spotlight.

Exploring Religion: Why Many Seek More

At some point, many of us feel curious about other religions. We explore different beliefs, attend other religious services, and question our current faith. It's a natural part of human growth — to seek truth, purpose, and a better way of life.

But while most people freely explore spirituality, Islam discourages questioning and punishes dissent severely. As someone who was once inside, I can say this confidently — Islam doesn’t want you to question.

My Experience as a Former Muslim

I wasn’t just a casual follower. I lived it. I prayed five times daily, memorized Quranic verses, defended the faith, and even tried converting others.

But behind the scenes, I saw contradictions, fear-driven obedience, and a deep intolerance toward doubt or criticism. I’ve since left Islam, and I now want to share the 5 key reasons why I believe you should never become a Muslim — especially if you're exploring religions with an open mind.

1. Apostasy Laws: Death for Leaving

Islam is the only major religion in the world that prescribes the death penalty for those who leave the faith.
Other religions — Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism — allow followers to leave or question without fear of execution.

Here’s what the Quran says:
Surah An-Nisa 4:89

“...But if they turn away, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them...”

From the Hadith (Sahih Bukhari 52:260):

“Whoever discards his religion, kill him.”

Imagine joining a religion, only to realize later that leaving it could cost you your life. That’s not religion — that’s a prison.

2. Scientific Errors in the Quran

Islam claims the Quran is a miracle — scientifically accurate, flawless, and divine.
But is that true?

Let’s examine:

Quran 52:44

“We could cause a piece of the sky to fall upon them.”
This suggests the sky is a solid object. We now know the sky is simply an atmosphere — not something that can “fall.”

Quran 67:5

“We made the stars as missiles to drive away devils…”
This verse shows a scientific misunderstanding — confusing stars (massive celestial bodies) with meteorites.

Despite claims of scientific perfection, many verses in the Quran contradict well-established science. Apologists often say it’s “metaphorical,” but that explanation doesn’t hold up when comparing various Islamic interpretations.

3. Terrorism and Global Violence

Islam is often linked with global terrorism. While it's true that people from all backgrounds can commit violence, Islamic terrorism is uniquely common and justified using scripture.

We rarely hear of Christians bombing places while shouting “Hallelujah.” But time and again, Islamic terrorists yell “Allahu Akbar” as they strike.

Why? Because verses like these exist:

Surah At-Tawbah 9:29

“Fight those who do not believe in Allah…”

Surah At-Tahrim 66:9

“O Prophet, strive against the disbelievers and be harsh with them…”

Terrorists aren’t just misled — they often quote directly from their holy book. That’s a serious issue for any religion that claims to be about peace.

4. Restrictive, Harmful Teachings

Islam promotes many ideas that clash with modern ethics, science, and logic:

  • Drinking camel urine (reported in Sahih Hadith)

  • Banning music and art

  • Forbidding friendships with non-Muslims

  • Cutting off the hand of thieves

  • Promoting misogyny

  • Condemning drawing, singing, dancing

Other religions have their faults, but they don't impose this level of control over personal expression and daily life.

Islam doesn’t offer a better moral framework — in many cases, it undermines basic human rights in the name of “divine law.”

5. Unreasonable Laws and Harsh Punishments

Islam demands perfection:

  • Don’t listen to music

  • Don’t drink alcohol

  • Don’t eat pork

  • Don’t pee standing

  • Pray five times a day

  • Women must wear hijab

  • Every mistake earns hellfire

The constant fear of hell, guilt for natural desires, and obsession with rules turns life into a daily moral battlefield. It feels less like a religion and more like a dictatorship.

If you grew up in a free or secular society, ask yourself:
Do you want to live like you’re in North Korea?

Conclusion: Do Your Research Before You Join

Changing your religion can be a beautiful journey. But it must be based on truth, logic, and freedom — not fear, guilt, and blind obedience.

Islam presents itself as peaceful, moral, and scientific — but my personal experience and deep study suggest otherwise.

I advise you: Don’t become a Muslim.
And if you do — at least do so with full knowledge of what you're entering.

Because this is not a religion someone would wish for even their enemy.

Top 5 Obvious Scientific mistakes of the Quran

When  we talk about the Quran, Muslim's believe that it's the perfect and narrowly the strict word of Allah which can be Impossible to change, So perfect that it can't be errors. Even Allah says in the Quran:

“Do they not then consider the Quran carefully?

Had it been from other than Allah, they would

surely have found therein much contradiction”

[an-Nisa’ 4:82].

This verse states that even if it's has been other than Allah that there would be more contradictions. But the truth is that it's not from Allah because there has been a lot of mistakes in this holy book but today I'm going to focus on the top five errors in this book that contradict with science and even the Quran upholds science and reasoning:

And follow
not that of which you have not
the (certain) knowledge of...
17:36

And.....

Bring
your proof if you are truthful
2:111

Allah encourages us to use our minds and brain and encourages us to bring forth proofs. Here are the most obvious mistake of the Holy Quran:

SKY CAN FALL DOWN:

Quran 52:44
See they not what is before them and behind
them, of the sky and the earth? If We wished,
We could cause the earth to swallow them up,
or cause a piece of the sky to fall upon them.
Verily in this is a Sign for every devotee that

turns to Allah (in repentance).

According to Allah in this verse, Allah thought that the atmosphere is a flat and solid object top of us that he can crack and make some pieces of it to fall on the disbelievers. As we know that in the 21st century, the atmosphere is a gas which made it impossible to be a solid object, same as space

STARS ARE METORS STONED AGAINST THE DEVIL:

verily We have beautified the world's
heaven with lamps, and We have made them
missiles for the devils, and for them We have
prepared the doom of flame.

Quran 67:5

The author of the Quran does not know that stars and meteorite are different. Stars are mass objects in space bigger than earth as many sizes while meteorite are small rocky debris which creates light in our atmosphere when it touches the earth atmosphere. Allah even said it clearly that they are stars:

We have indeed decked the lower heaven with
beauty (in) the stars, (For beauty) and for
guard against all obstinate rebellious evil
spirits, (So) they should not strain their ears
in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but
be cast away from every side, Repulsed, for
they are under a perpetual penalty, Except
such as snatch away something by stealth,
and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of
piercing brightness.
Quran 37:6-10

THE MOON IS A LIGHT:

He it is Who appointed the sun a splendour
and the moon a light, and measured for her
stages, that ye might know the number of the
years, and the reckoning. Allah created not
(all) that save in truth. He detaileth the
revelations for people who have knowledge.
Quran 10:5

And hath made the moon a light therein, and
made the sun a lamp?
Quran 71:16

be He Who hath placed in the heaven
mansions of the stars, and hath placed
therein a great lamp and a moon giving light!"

Quran 25:61

You can then decide it's meaning..

THE MOON LOOSES IT'S LIGHT:

Not only that the moon emits lights, it also looses its light at the final hour before it collides with the sun:

And the moon darkens And the sun and the
moon are joined,
Qur'an 75:8-9

The Quran simply says that when the moon wants to join the sun, The moon darkens which is scientifically incorrect because even if some instance that the sun collides with the moon, it will make the moon more brighter because the sun is reflecting the moon and it doesn't darkened. The reason why it says that the sun darkens its because the Quran assumes that the moon is a light.

THE HEAVEN CAN BE ROLLED UP:

These verses imply that the heavens have two
dimensional surfaces.

The Day when We shall roll up the heavens as
a recorder rolleth up a written scroll.
Quran 21:104

No just estimate have they made of Allah,
such as is due to Him: On the Day of
Judgment the whole of the earth will be but
His handful, and the heavens will be rolled up
in His right hand: Glory to Him! High is He
above the Partners they attribute to Him!
Quran 39:67

The Quran sees the heavens as a carpet in which Allah rolls up as a scroll. That's the Quran miracle.

There are lots and lots of error not only in astronomy, but in biology and law of physics. But I just have to bring the top five errors that are the most obvious and concrete ones.
